All orders with Veritas Signatures are subject to availability. Our team will notify you within 1-2 hours if we are unable to assign a notary. This is why we request a minimum of 2 hours’ notice for all orders. Please note that your payment method will not be charged unless a notary is successfully assigned to the appointment. In the event that a counteroffer for service is necessary, our team will reach out via email or phone to present the details and confirm if you wish to proceed. Counteroffers are typically required in more rural areas or in urban areas with parking issues.
Documents Requiring Signature Witnesses:
Documents such as Powers of Attorney, Wills, and Living Trusts typically require 1-2 signature witnesses in addition to the notary. We advise reviewing the document before the scheduled appointment to ensure that all necessary parties are available for the signing. Please note that signature witnesses cannot be immediate family members of the individual signing the document or have any vested interest in the transaction. Should you require Veritas Signatures to arrange for witnesses, a fee of $50.00 per witness will be applied in addition to the signing fee.
Appointments at State/Federal Prisons or County Jails:
For appointments held at state/federal prisons or county jails, the inmate must present an Inmate Identification Card, or any official form of inmate identification. Most institutions prohibit inmates from possessing other forms of identification. Please be advised that staff members at the facility cannot act as credible or signature witnesses, as most institutions will not permit such requests. If you have been informed by the facility’s customer service that staff will accommodate this, we strongly recommend making independent arrangements to avoid potential issues when the notary arrives.
Please be aware that appointments at jails or correctional facilities are scheduled for a duration of 1 hour. If circumstances cause the notary appointment to exceed this timeframe, a fee of $1.00 per minute will apply for the additional wait time. Such occurrences may include, but are not limited to, lockdowns, delays in escorting the inmate to the notary, or late arrivals of the parties involved.
Delivery of Executed Documents:
In most cases, inmates are not permitted to retain possession of executed documents. Please inform Veritas Signatures in advance if the notary will be handing over the documents to the individual who placed the order. If documents need to be couriered locally by the notary, an additional $50.00 courier fee will be added to the signing fee. If the executed documents require shipping, kindly provide a shipping label, and Veritas Signatures will arrange for the documents to be sent via the nearest available shipping service following the signing. If you prefer Veritas Signatures to provide a shipping label, an additional cost for shipping will be charged.
